Service Description

This class is a sequential continuing education course in special effects makeup that builds upon the core skills and techniques the student acquired from the Level 1 Special Effects Makeup for Tweens and Teens workshop. The Level 2 module expands into more advanced elements required in creating the 3-dimensional illusion of fantasy characters and life-like injury traumas seen in many TV shows and movies. In this 5 hour hands-on workshop students will acquire more professional-based technology and techniques required to produce film and TV quality realistic results, and taught in an age-friendly achievement format. Students will learn proper procedures in creating accident and exposure injuries such as cuts, scratches, broken noses, scars, bruises, sunburns and perspiration. They will learn how to do bullet entry and exit wounds for a staged gunfight or blood and dirt from a fistfight seen in an Old West movie. They will discover how to do more complex renderings with prosthetic materials used by pros in the industry today for creature or face/body distortional effects, and how to make them both freehand and from molding structures. They will work with advanced coloring mediums, including hand-applied and airbrush applied, while learning professional finishing methods for prosthetic appliance applications. It’s another terrific opportunity to build upon their imagination, talent and creativity and best of all, it’s FUN to learn and FUN to do! The Level 2 class carries on the exploration through the strange but wonderful world of special effects makeup that turns ordinary humans into caricatures, creatures and traumatized beings. It’s designed to advance the student further through their fundamental skill set acquired in the Level 1 workshop into the next stage of their progress. It’s a hands-on skill building workshop that will guide the student in designing and producing visually compelling creations that looks like 3-D “high definition camera ready” results! Students will also receive another kit of industry professional-grade tools, materials and color mediums necessary to use in creating highly believable character illusions and realistic traumas. The class is limited to 6 students, and open to those who have previously taken the required Special Effects Makeup for Tweens and Teens Level 1 workshop.
